The Secret Service is planning to send extra agents to protect Joe Biden on Friday, in preparation for his possible victory speech for the 2020 presidential election.
According to The Washington Post, the security reinforcements will be assigned to Wilmington, Delaware, where the Biden campaign is headquartered at a riverfront convention center, as votes continue to be counted in several crucial battleground states.
The agents were immediately dispatched once they were told the former vice president planned to remain at the center on Friday.
Biden is on the cusp of reaching the 270 electoral votes needed to secure the presidency on Friday and his camp is prepared for him to make a victory speech from the convention center location.
The Washington Post’s report did clarify that Biden is getting added security, but the Secret Service still hasn’t yet staffed him with the level of protection given to presidents-elect.
