Dr. David Dao, the United Airlines passenger whose story went viral after he was forcibly removed from an aircraft earlier this month, can now put the violent incident behind him. Dao suffered two lost teeth, a broken nose and a “significant” concussion due to the incident on April 9. After a week-long PR nightmare, United Airlines has agreed to pay Dao an undisclosed amount in a settlement.
The settlement was reached Thursday afternoon.  “Mr. Munoz said he was going to do the right thing, and he has,” Dao’s lawyer said of United CEO Oscar Munoz.
“In addition, United has taken full responsibility for what happened on Flight 3411, without attempting to blame others, including the City of Chicago,” he continued. Â “For this acceptance of corporate accountability, United is to be applauded.”
United also issued a statement.
“We are pleased to report that United and Dr. Dao have reached an amicable resolution of the unfortunate incident that occurred aboard flight 3411,” the airline said. “We look forward to implementing the improvements we have announced, which will put our customers at the center of everything we do.”
