A security guard was stabbed Friday night over a mask dispute in a New York City Apple Store.
The guard asked the man to put on a mask, which caused an argument to break out. The man then stabbed the guard, causing stab wounds to his forehead and arms.
The guard was taken into the back room of the Chelsea store before first responders arrived. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive.
The suspect was reportedly wearing black sneakers, a black sweatshirt with red lettering, and blue jeans. It is believed that he is in his 20s. He was seen fleeing toward the 14th Street/”Eight Avenue subway station. He has not been arrested.
Surveillance footage of the scene shows a blood-spattered floor.
A witness, Roberto Monticello, described a chaotic scene to The New York Post. People were screaming and pushing each other.
“Why would you hurt somebody else?” he said to the outlet. “It really bothered me to see someone getting hurt. That was really not something I wanted to see.”
