Back in May, Selena Gomez quietly underwent a kidney transplant to combat complications from her lupus. Her best friend, Francia Raiza donated her own kidney to complete the operation, which Selena revealed to be life-or-death.
But now, just five months post-op, sources say the singer has experienced medical issues related to the transplant, specifically a very low white blood cell count.
According to The Blast, Selena was recently hospitalized to address the blood cell count issue. But shortly after she was discharged, she was readmitted as the issue did not improve.
In turn, the back and forth to the hospital, in addition to the stress over her health, caused a series of “extreme” panic attacks. As a result, friends and family of the singer decided it would be a good idea for her to seek professional help.
According to the Blast, Selena flew to the East Coast to check herself into the same facility she was treated at earlier this year after a longstanding battle with depression and anxiety. Now, the singer is resting and receiving treatment.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Get well soon, Selena.
