Former NFL player Sergio Brown, who disappeared after his mother’s body was found near a creek by her residence in Illinois, has seemingly reemerged in Mexico in a bizarre video posted to Instagram.
In the video, Brown says the recent headlines are “fake news.” Police have been searching for him and Myrtle Brown after they were reported missing early Saturday. Neither had been heard from since Thursday, September 14th. Sadly, the same day the report was filed, Myrtle was found dead near a creek behind her Maywood, Illinois home. Her death has been ruled a homicide, and Brown has since shared a disturbing rant.
In the video posted to an Instagram profile under the username “intplayerwithapassport,” Brown tags ESPN, seemingly disputing their news of Myrtle’s murder. He claims, “It has to be the FBI” behind her death. He also implicated Maywood police for having a role in the slaying.
“They kidnapped me twice from home, the Maywood Police Department. It had to be the FBI or the Maywood Police,” he rambled off in the footage.Â
“I thought my f*****g mama was on vacation in Sinaloa,” he claimed, adding that Myrtle was retired.Â
In a separate video that was posted and deleted shortly before his “fake news” explanation, Brown spoke incoherently about the criminal justice system. Interestingly enough, he tagged Mexico City, Mexico, as his current location.Â
The NFL veteran’s behavior is disturbing and coincides with neighbor Carlos Cortez’s revelation that Brown had been acting erratically, leading to Myrtle’s disappearance. He was the one who provided police with his Ring camera footage, which shows Brown appearing to burn some objects, which Cortez says were Myrtle’s clothing.Â
“They said he wasn’t himself the last few months. He was out of his mind,” Cortez told The Sun, also confirming that police had been called several times to the home before this tragic incident.Â
Authorities are still trying to locate Brown for questioning in the case.Â
