Two tornados in Florida destroyed at least 28 homes over the weekend.
About 7,000 homes no longer have power after two tornadoes tragically brushed through Florida’s Lee County Sunday morning. CNN reports the tornadoes resulted from the same storm system that brought freezing rain and snow to some areas of the East Coast.
The tornado was recorded as an EF2, with a max wind speed of 118 mph. During a news conference, the co-chairman of the Lee County board of commissioners said that the homes that were affected are “unlivable.” So far, there have been four injuries, officials say.
MSN reports that this same storm system that generated the tornadoes also brought on the freezing rain and snow that hit some East coast areas. The storm system knocked out power to more than 180,000 customers as of Monday.
