Some ”Sex in the City” fans may be upset to know that a third sequel may never happen, but others may say keep it after finding out there were plans to kill off Mr. Big, according to reports.
The complicated marriage between Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big was put to the test in the second sequel after the two finally jumped the broom in the screenplay. Unfortunately, the third sequel’s script has allegedly been scrapped due to Kim Cattrall’s refusal to commit because of the “Big” plot twist, according to journalists James Andrew Miller.
With the “would-be” film having to focus on a newly widowed Carrie, sources close to Kim felt the film lacked room for the character, Samantha. “People close to Kim believe that the script didn’t have a lot to offer the character of Samantha,” Miller stated on his “Origins” podcast, adding, “They point to the fact that it calls for Mr. Big to die of a heart attack in the shower, relatively early on in the film, making the remainder of the movie more about how Carrie recovers from Big’s death than about the relationship between the four women,” Today reports.
Although Mr. Big didn’t get the opportunity to read the script himself, he “heard it was a really superior script.”
Is there room for another “Sex in the City” sequel with this plot twist or scrap the script and head in a different direction?
