Sexyy Red revealed she turned down a lucrative WWE deal due to her already hectic schedule.
In a recent chat with “Dazed Digital,” the rapper reflected on her 2024 cameo with WWE legend Shawn Michaels, sharing that she was initially offered a permanent wrestling role but couldn’t commit because of her music career.
“I actually got offered a permanent role as a wrestler in WWE, but couldn’t find the time to train properly so settled for a cameo instead,” she shared.
Sexyy also drew a parallel between rap and wrestling, noting, “Rapping and wrestling are pretty much the same. It’s not quite acting, but it’s kind of acting too, right? Because when we go home and take off all our jewels and gold and remove the costumes we wear, we then have to go right back to reality with our families.”
Sexyy has had one of the most surprising rises in hip-hop, with hits such as “Get It Sexyy,” “U My Everything” and “Pound Town.” She recently teamed up with Bruno Mars for the party anthem, “Fat Juicy & Wet.” Bruno had teased the collaboration on Instagram before it dropped just three days later. However, it was quickly criticized by hip-hop heads, such as Joe Budden, who slammed the song’s formulaic approach to attracting audiences.
