Sexyy Red is facing legal trouble after being accused of encouraging her fans to attack the grandmother of one of her children — and now she’s being hit with a $5 million lawsuit.
According to court documents obtained by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Nicole Barnes, the paternal grandmother of one of Sexyy Red’s children, claims the rapper shared both a photo and the address of her home in a Facebook post back in December 2024. Barnes says the post went further — allegedly urging followers to “kick in the door” and carry out “acts of violence” against her.
Barnes, 51, says she was blindsided by the post and had no involvement in the personal dispute between Sexyy Red and the child’s father.
“Sexyy Red and her baby daddy are getting into beefs, for whatever reason, that have nothing to do with my client,” said Barnes’ attorney, Steven Weaver. “We tried to resolve it quietly. Her attorneys thought it was a joke. Now they’re finding out it’s not.”
Since the incident, Barnes says she filed a police report and was forced to move from her home in Hazelwood, Missouri, due to safety concerns. The lawsuit claims she has struggled to find comparable housing and now lives in constant fear, undergoing therapy for emotional distress.
The legal filing accuses the “SkeeYee” rapper — real name Janae Wherry — of assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. Barnes is seeking $5 million in damages.
