Early last week, the boxing feud between two of the best young boxers in the sport came to a head once again. Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson have both stated that they want to fight. However, there seems to be some confusion on where and who needs to send and sign the contract.
In a series of tweets seen below, the two boxers also indulged in a bit of trash talk, emphasizing their readiness to step into the ring and face each other.

Another point raised by many fans is that Shakur Stevenson, despite not holding any belts and not being widely popular depending on the audience, lacks the support to demand 25%, let alone 50%, of the earnings that the boxers would generate on the upcoming event. However, Stevenson and his team hold a different perspective. As reported by BoxingScene, Stevenson and his team contacted the World Boxing Council(WBC) to call for a mandatory title fight against Lightweight Champion Devin Haney.
In a letter from Stevenson’s co-manager James Prince, they state that they have “tried over the last several weeks to negotiate a bout with Mr. Haney on Mr. Stevenson’s behalf, we have not made much progress.” Some say suggesting a match with the undisputed WBA, WBC, WCO, and IBF Champion and expecting to receive an equal share of the earnings is unrealistic. However, only time will tell how Haney and his team will react to this desperate plea to get this match-up on pen and paper.
