Actress Shannen Doherty had reportedly planned her funeral before her, and several people were not allowed to attend.
Several sources close to the “Beverly Hills, 90210” actress have revealed that her co-star, Jennie Garth, is not allowed to attend her service. Doherty’s fellow “Charmed” actress, Alyssa Milano, is also excluded from the service. Doherty had been at odds with both women throughout the years. After news broke of her death, Garth briefly spoke about their rocky relationship in an Instagram tribute.
“Our connection was real and honest. We were so often pitted against each other, but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was one built on mutual respect and admiration,” Garth wrote alongside photos of her and Doherty. No matter the actual nature of their friendship, Doherty reportedly did not want Garth anywhere near the program.
Back in January 2024, Doherty spoke candidly about why she created a “list” of people not allowed to attend her service. As she explained, excluding people before her death made it easier on those she may have had tension with.
“There’s a lot of people that I think would show up that I don’t want there. I don’t want them there because their reasons for showing up aren’t necessarily the best reasons … Like, they don’t really like me and, you know, they have their reasons and good for them, but they don’t actually really like me enough to show up to my funeral,” Doherty said in an episode of her “Let’s Be Clear” podcast adding “So I kinda want to take the pressure off them and I want my funeral to be like a love fest … I don’t want people to be crying or people to privately be like, ‘Thank God that b***h is dead now.'”
Doherty died after a lengthy battle with breast cancer that began in 2015. She went into remission in 2017, only for the cancer to return in 2019 as metastatic stage 4 breast cancer. Sadly, the disease spread to her bones and brain. She died from the illness on July 13th, 2024.
Neither Garth nor Milano have spoken out publicly about being banned from Doherty’s funeral. It’s unclear when the service will take place.
