Shannon Allen, best known for founding grown™, the first USDA-certified organic fast-food chain in the country, is taking her purpose-driven mission to the mic. This week, she officially launches grownwoman, a podcast dedicated to sharing real, honest, and uplifting conversations that explore the depths of womanhood, resilience, and reinvention.
The debut episode, titled “Grief to Growth: How Karen Guggenheim Reclaimed Her Happiness”, is available now across all major streaming platforms, including iHeart, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
“Life throws storms our way,” Allen shared. “But every setback is a seed for something beautiful.” That belief fuels grownwoman, where Allen invites guests to open up about everything from grief and career changes to motherhood, identity, and starting over.
The series is rooted in Allen’s personal legacy—a tradition of after-hours kitchen table conversations among the women in her family. “Those talks made me who I am. They raised me,” she said. “This podcast is my tribute to the women who raised their voices, and to every woman who’s found the strength to rise.”
Allen, a former Motown artist, actress, and wife of NBA Hall of Famer Ray Allen, has worn many hats—entrepreneur, wellness advocate, mom of five, and Type 1 diabetes (T1D) activist. Her passion for health and healing was ignited after her son’s T1D diagnosis, eventually leading her to launch grown™. Now, she’s using grownwoman to nourish not just bodies, but minds and spirits.
The podcast aims to create a safe space for women of all backgrounds—whether navigating career transitions, personal healing, or simply craving deeper connections. With each episode, grownwoman will spotlight voices that inspire growth, challenge norms, and honor the complexity of womanhood.
In addition to her work in wellness and media, Allen was recently appointed to the board of Connecticut Innovations, the state’s venture capital organization, a testament to her leadership and vision.
