Shannon Sharpe is breaking his silence after a recent Instagram Live scandal, addressing the situation on Nightcap with Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson.
Wednesday, the NFL Hall of Famer accidentally went live and shared some very personal audio of himself with a woman to his 3.2 million followers.
“Obviously, I am embarrassed. Someone that is extremely, extremely private, and to have one of your most intimate details – the audio – heard for the entire world to hear, I’m embarrassed for a number of reasons,” he admitted on the episode. “People count on Shannon… I always try to be professional at all times, even when I’m behind closed doors. I still try to maintain a level of professionalism, although I’m in the privacy of my own home.”
He went on to explain how disappointed he was in himself, not for the act itself, but for letting down the people who look up to him.
“I let a lot of people down. My kids, I reached out to them. I called them. I called my sister,” he shared.
Sharpe also cleared up the confusion about the incident, confirming he had gone live by mistake—contradicting his earlier statement, where his team claimed he’d been hacked.
“My phone wasn’t hacked. It wasn’t a prank, it was me being a healthy, active male,” Sharpe said, owning up to the slip-up. He explained that he threw his phone on the bed and accidentally turned on Instagram Live without realizing how the platform worked.
