Shannon Sharpe is detailing how things went when he met with Mike Epps.
During the most recent episode of “Night Cap,” Sharpe shared how Epps apologized for his comments during their link-up. The former NFL pro also acknowledged his part in the drama.
“I handled it wrong because the conversation that you and I having, we could’ve had this conversation with none of the stuff that we displayed online,” Sharpe recalled telling Epps.
In retrospect, Sharpe also believes he should have had his team get in touch with Epps’ team to clear the air before things escalated quickly in the whirlwind beef.
In case you missed it, Sharpe took offense to Epps’ dragging him on stage at a recent standup performance. Epps told the audience that he declined a “Club Shay Shay” appearance and seemed to suggest that Sharpe may be part of the LGBTQ community. This angered Sharpe, who hopped on “Night Cap” to respond, claiming that Epps wasn’t invited to his podcast and warned Epps that he might put his hands on him. The “Next Friday” star fired back in a now-deleted Instagram post, questioning why Sharpe was so upset over his jokes. After the smoke settled, Sharpe informed his social media audience that he and Epps were planning to meet up to speak about their differences, which they did in a 15-minute chat. Sharpe even uploaded a photo of the men shaking hands and smiling, indicating that all was harmonious.
Sharpe’s “Night Cap” co-host Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson commended Epps and Sharpe for burying the hatchet. However, Johnson joked that he still had not received an apology from the comedian, who called him a “milk dud.”
As of now, Epps hasn’t told his part of the reconciliation.
