Shanquella Robinson, the 25-year-old who mysteriously died while on a Mexico trip with friends was finally laid to rest.
On Saturday, many supporters, as well as friends and family of Shanquella, said their last goodbyes to the North Carolina native. Shanquella was brought to Macedonia Baptist Church by a horse carriage.
Shanquella’s loved ones who attended the funeral wore pink attire and pins with her photo printed on them.
Shanquella’s death remains a mystery seeing that her friends all have contradicting stories of the tragic incident.
If you’re not aware, Shanquella took a trip to Cabo, Mexico with a group of friends to celebrate her birthday. During the trip, Shanquella mysteriously died and the friends initially blamed it on alcohol poisoning. However, Mexican authorities revealed that Shanquella suffered from a broken neck and spinal cord injury.
Shortly after news broke on the incident, a video surfaced online of Shanquella getting into a fistfight with another woman. The woman is seen punching Shanquella in the head multiple times and throwing her to the ground.
Since then, the FBI’s field office in Charlotte has opened an investigation into Shanquella’s mysterious death. As for as her friends, none of them have been charged in the criminal case.
Shanquella’s family started a GoFundMe to help assist with the funeral and legal expenses. The family has currently raise over $340,000 with a large portion coming from NBA star Kyrie Irving, who donated $65,000.
