Family and friends of Shanquella Robinson are taking matters into their own hands.
On Saturday, local activists and loved ones of the 25-year-old marched to a post office to mail 1,000 pink letters to Mexican authorities. The group, spearheaded by Mario Black, marched from Little Rock A.M.E. Zion Church to a nearby post office.
Black says he hopes the pink letters “will ignite someone there to push a little harder” to give Robinson the justice she deserves.
“The significance of it is to put pressure on Mexico because they’re not owning up to their responsibility and executing the warrants of the Cabo six,” Black adds.
Late October 2022, Robinson traveled to Mexico with a group of “friends.” During the trip, Robinson got into a heated altercation with someone in the group that later resulted in her death.
A viral video showed Robinson arguing with another woman before being beat down while the others laughed and watched.
The group allegedly told Robinson’s family that she died from alcohol poisoning. They then left her body in their villa rental and flew back to the United States. However, an autopsy revealed that Robinson didn’t die from alcohol poisoning but a “severe spinal cord injury and atlas luxation” due to a broken neck and a cracked spine.
An arrest warrant was issued out but no arrests have been made yet. Nevertheless, the FBI have joined into the investigation and says the case could take awhile being that an international crime was committed.
