Lakers legends Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’neal have gone through their rough patches along the course of their careers. But with Kobe recently retiring and Shaq well into his career as a TNT analyst, it’s nice to know that the duo have long-ago put their beef behind them.
The two are so cool that Shaq’s 16 year old son, Shareef, plans to get private basketball lessons from his father’s old pal this summer. The 16-year old says he ran across Kobe during NBA All-Star weekend in Toronto, and Kobe offered to train him. “He was telling me I need to train with him … I’m going to probably start training with him this summer,” Shareef explained to TMZ Sports.
When it comes to the one-on-one’s the two could possibly partake in, the high school star doesn’t plan on taking it easy. “Ima try to win,” he explained before alluding to his plans of trying to cross Kobe over.
Shareef also commented on his father’s current relationship with Kobe. The teen says that the two “call and text” all the time.
Shareef is a 2018 power foward listed at 6-foot-8, 190 pounds. With multiple scholarship offers already under his belt, training with one of the greatest NBA players ever can only add to his repertoire.
