Taylor Swift may have gotten a co-sign from Shannon Sharpe!
During a recent episode of Nightcap, Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco Johnson engaged in a discussion about Beyonce and Swift. Sharpe shared his perspective on the two pop stars following a recent report that suggested Taylor Swift had generated over $331 million for the Kansas City Chiefs. In his opinion, Sharpe believes that Beyonce wouldn’t have been able to achieve the same level of success.
“Tell me the other [musician] that’s going to do that. $331 million in value,” Sharpe said.
Ochocinco quickly responded, mentioning the impact of Beyonce.
“Beyoncé. Hypothetically speaking, if she wasn’t with Jay-Z and not Travis Kelce… Yeah, Beyoncé. She’d move the needle,” Ochocinco said.
However, Sharpe disagreed with the statement and even compared Swift to Michael Jackson.
“Beyoncé is not like this… These eight to 15-year-old eyeballs. I love Beyoncé,” Sharpe added. “Beyoncé ain’t moving the needle like this chick, Ocho. [Taylor Swift] is the closest thing to moving the needle like Michael Jackson that we’ve seen. This is it.”
Additionally, he claimed that the NFL would prefer Taylor Swift as the Super Bowl halftime show performer over a combination of “Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Rihanna.” Sharpe furthered his statement by saying that Swift had even declined the opportunity to perform at the event.
Nevertheless, Ochocinco stood by his opinion, noting that Beyonce has the influence to make some moves and generate funds as well.
“Beyoncé moves the needle just like Taylor, if not more… Beyoncé has those same set of eyes: Young, old, middle age, and old, including I,” Johnson argued. “Hypothetically speaking, Beyoncé would move the same way that Taylor is doing. It would be Beyoncé being shown all the time.”
Throughout the entire season, the relationship between NFL player Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift has consistently been a topic of media attention, even amidst the news of the Kansas City Chiefs reaching the Super Bowl this year. Following Sunday’s game, Front Office Sports disclosed that the pop singer had contributed approximately $331.5 million in revenue to the football team. These calculations took into account various sources of exposure, including print, digital, radio, television, highlights, and social media mentions of Swift since her appearance at one of Kelce’s games on September 24, 2023.
