Shawn Oakman revealed in an interview with TMZ that he is ready to start a Hall of Fame career in football after fighting a case that sidelined him.
Oakman was once considered a top NFL draft pick until a fellow student at Baylor accused him of rape in 2016.
During the trial, prosecutors claimed that Oakman forced the woman into his room against her will after they met at a bar. But the defense argued that the relationship was consensual, and the jury agreed. Oakman was found not guilty earlier this year. However, the rape allegation cost him his career in the NFL and a hefty salary. The good news is that he has a new opportunity to join the XFL to play for the Los Angeles Wildcats.
Oakman is very hopeful of becoming a Hall of Famer in the future.
“It only takes one great year,” Oakman says. “A year here, a year there, next thing you know, they’re gonna be talking about gold jackets.”
