Sherri Shepherd Claims Celebrity Friends Didn’t Come To Her Wedding Because They Didn’t Like Her Ex-Husband

In a recent sit down with DL Hughley, Sherri Shepherd revealed that many of her celeb friends never approved of her relationship with her ex-husband, Lamar Sally.

On the podcast, the former host of ’The View’ admitted to jumping into the relationship to fill both a physical and emotional void and apparently, most of her friends, including Hughley, warned her that it wouldn’t last long.

“I was in New York doing The View, and I was lonely. That’s what it was,” she said. “You can’t do stuff out of fear and being lonely. All of the women of The View were amazing, but they had lives. Whoopi would go home and eat her brownies; she was gone for the night. Then, Elizabeth Hasselbeck had her family, and Joy had hers, so I was out there by myself.”

Hughley told Shepherd that he knew Sally was a “sorry ass dude” the first time he met him. According to Shepherd, Steve Harvey and Barbara Walters agreed, and Whoopi Goldberg even passed up on attending the wedding.

Niecy Nash was the one who introduced Shepherd to her ex-husband. In fact, Shepherd claimed that her Sally used to be friends with Nash’s husband. Even though Nash believed Sally was a good guy at first, Shepherd recalled the time her friend came to her defense.

“One time he had taken me to court for money, and she called him in her little closet because she didn’t want her husband to hear,” Shepherd said. “She cursed him out, and he said ‘if you call me again I’m going to call your husband.’”

Shepherd said that she takes responsibility for choosing to be in a relationship out of the fear of being lonely in her 40’s. After three years of marriage, Shepherd divorced from her husband in 2014.
