Changes are coming to The Wendy Williams Show, and according to TMZ, Sherri Shepherd will become a permanent guest host on the daytime talk show.
Sources told TMZ Shepherd would likely take over as permanent guest host in September, and the talk show’s name would likely be changed. The outlet also reports that producers have not entirely closed the door on Wendy. If her health improves from now until September, she’s welcomed back.
Williams stepped away from the show back in October after suffering health issues reportedly connected to her longtime battle with Graves Disease as well as a thyroid condition.
The 57-year-old’s last appearance on the talk show came at the close of season 13 in July 2021. She never returned for season 14 and there have been several guest hosts since, including Bill Bellamy, Remy Ma and Fat Joe.
TMZ says the deal with Shepherd is “almost locked.”
