Last week Kim Burrell came under fire when she essentially condemned the LGBT community to hell just before the New Year.
“I came to tell you about sin. That sin nature. That perverted homosexual spirit, and the spirit of delusion and confusion, it has deceived many men and women, and it’s caused us pain on the body of Christ,” she said. “You as a man, you open your mouth and take a man’s penis in your face, you are perverted… You are a woman and will shake your face in another woman’s breast, you are perverted.”
This week, Shirley Caesar did some preaching of her own, taking some time to defend Kim Burrell’s comments, but offering a little word of advice. “Anytime you want to say something to our church, collect the phones first,” she said.
Caesar also said that Burrell should have made her comments back when President Obama came out with his support of gay marriage in 2012. “You should’ve said something four years ago when our president made that stuff all right,” Caesar is heard saying on video.
Those in attendance say that many attendees were offended and taken aback by Shirley Caesar’s comments.
