Rosie O’donnell’s 17 year old daughter went missing for a week and was later found in New Jersey with a convicted heroine dealer that she met on Tinder. The man, Steven Sheerer, was arrested and is currently being held on $40,000 bond. He’s being charged with child endangerment and distribution of obscenity to a minor, because he sent her nudes. Rosie’s daughter also sent him nudes, so there’s likely to be child pornography charges also.
Here’s the thing, Sheerer maintains that Rosie’s daughter, Chelsea, misled him by being on the Tinder app that separates users into age groups, starting at 18. So according to Sheerer, if Chelsea showed up on his Tinder feed, it was safe to assume that she was at least 18. There’s no word as to whether Chelsea verbally lied about her age, however.
You be the judge, does Sheerer have a case here? Tinder allows users from the age of 13 and older to join. It’s linked to your Facebook account but to my understanding, can still be edited through the Tinder app. However, Sheerer does have a case. He is in his 20’s and Tinder lets you choose the age of people you want to see, but nothing younger than 18 if you are an adult. If he can prove that his age is correct on his Tinder account, it’s likely that Chelsea did indeed mislead him. Should he be facing jail for that?
