U.K. podcast hosts James and Fuhad of the “ShxtsnGigs” are issuing an apology after seemingly cosign disparaging comments about Black women.
On Tuesday, the controversial duo came before their audience to explain the show they did with Andrew Schulz during their U.S. tour. During their analysis of the “Black girlfriend effect,” the group discussed how non-Black men switch up their haircuts when they begin dating Black women. Schulz then felt compelled to make racially insensitive statements about how Black women are difficult and potentially abusive.
“They shave their hair because they start losing it because they’re stressed being around a Black girl who complains about sh*t all the time,” Schulz said of men who date Black women, which prompted laughter from James and Fuhad.
This sparked outrage online, with many accusing the men of being anti-Black for allowing a white man to insult Black women on their program. However, James and Fuhad maintain that this was not the case.
“There were a few jokes made that were incredibly inappropriate, one specifically pertaining to Black women,” they said, going on to explain, “In the clip, Andrew was making a joke…frankly, a racist joke, and we were laughing at it. Before we get into specifics or anything, obviously, there is just literally no excuse.”
According to the two, they were in “fight or flight” mode and wanted to move on from the conversation. However, they admitted they didn’t do the best job of correcting Schulz.

Fight or flight mode? 😒 But they still edited and posted the video. Plenty of time to reflect on the content. Obviously they didn’t see a problem with it.
That wasn’t nervous laughter I heard. Those laughs sounded like agreement
