Simone Biles has achieved an unprecedented sixth appearance at the World Championships in gymnastics.
She secured her victory in the last round by outscoring Shi Jones on the vault with a final score of 55.700, while Jones had 55.300, and Skye Blakely scored 55.000.
Biles’ performance automatically qualified her for the World Championships team, with the complete lineup set to be revealed on Wednesday night.
Earlier this year, she made an impressive comeback in gymnastics, winning her eighth all-around title at the U.S. Gymnastics Championship in August. She’s not only the first to achieve this but also the oldest woman to win an all-around title, following her challenges with the “twisties” during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Biles is the most decorated U.S. women’s gymnast, with a total of 32 medals from World Championships and the Olympics.
