Another celeb has announced their departure from the United States due to Trump’s controversial moves since returning to office.
Courtney Love is bidding farewell to America, revealing she is permanently relocating to the UK amid President Trump’s second term.
“I’m really glad I’m here,” she shared at London’s Royal Geographical Society, where she has lived since 2019, per the Daily Mail. “It’s so great to live here. I’m finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I get to be a citizen. I’m applying, man! Can’t get rid of me!”
Her comments were met with applause as she expressed concerns over Trump’s administration. “In terms of Trump and particularly this group … it’s like emperor-core. Like, [they’re] wearing million-dollar watches,” she explained. “Emperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It’s frightening now. It’s like cyanide now.”
Even before moving to London from Los Angeles, Love had envisioned life in the UK. “I know what neighborhood I’m going to end up in, and I know that I want to be on the Thames,” she told the Standard in 2017. “I subscribe to this magazine called Country Life, which is just real-estate porn and fox hunting. It’s amazing.”
The 60-year-old rocker, mother to Frances Bean Cobain, joins other stars fleeing Trump’s America. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi reportedly left immediately post-election, while Rosie O’Donnell moved to Ireland with her child, Clay.
“When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights … that’s when we will consider coming back,” O’Donnell stated in a TikTok video.
