A singer by the name of Tasleema Yasin is claiming that she’s owed her fair cut of money from Nipsey Hussle’s ‘Hussle & Motivate’ song.
According to the legal documents filed Thursday in L.A. Superior Court, Yasin claimed that she wrote and performed a vocal phrase used throughout the track, TMZ reports. Yasin said her voice can be heard throughout the song’s chorus, specifically in a countermelody, which she sang in her higher register.
Although Yasim hasn’t specified exactly how much she’s owed, she claims to have co-written the song, which would mean that she’d be entitled to receive a good amount of money. TMZ reports that Yasim wants Nipsey’s estate to provide proper accounting so that she can calculate what that amount would be.
Nipsey Hussle released his hit song ‘Hussle & Motivate’ back in February of 2018. It was featured on his major-label debut album ‘Victory Lap,’ which earned the late rapper a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. To date, the official video for ‘Hussle & Motivate’ has over 24 million views on YouTube.
