Six Teens Hospitalized Following Aurora, Colorado Shooting

At least six teenagers were injured Monday during a shooting near a high school in Aurora, Colorado.

According to the Aurora Police Department, five of the victims were aged 14 to 17-years-old. They were all taken to a nearby hospital. The sixth victim was 18-years-old and was able to drive himself to the hospital. The teens suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred in Nome Park, which is near the Aurora Central High School. The high school was initially reported to be on a lockdown, but that was updated to reflect the school was on a “secure perimeter.”

Police Chief Vanessa Wilson confirmed that all of the injured teens were Aurora Central High School students.

Shell casings from multiple guns were found at the scene. Eyewitnesses described multiple suspicious vehicles in the vicinity. The department’s Gang Unit was brought in to investigate the incident.

“My understanding is it was a drive-by shooting, as well as there may have been people on foot,” she said.

Wilson said that no suspects had been arrested as of yet.
