We know McDonald’s fans are still hoping for the return of Snack Wraps and Chicken Selects. However, the fast-food giant is reportedly adding another menu item: the Chicken Big Mac.
After gaining popularity in the UK and Australia, the Chicken Big Mac is now set to debut in the United States in 2024, according to food blogger Snackolator.
The Chicken Big Mac was previously introduced in select international markets but was pulled from menus due to supply chain issues. Following a trial run in Miami in 2022, Snackolator announced that the sandwich is slated to join U.S. menus next year. The Chicken Big Mac keeps the classic Big Mac structure, but swaps out the beef patties for two tempura chicken patties, offering a different take on the iconic sandwich.
McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski mentioned the upcoming release in a video earlier this year, without specifying an exact date. “The chicken is going to start to give the traditional Big Mac a run for its money,” Kempczinski said, describing the sandwich’s familiar setup with three buns, lettuce, cheese, and Big Mac sauce, but with a crispy chicken twist.
Kempczinski noted that the crunch of the chicken patties paired well with the Big Mac sauce, providing a new texture while keeping the signature flavors. “One of the things I did like about this Chicken Big Mac is the crunchiness of the chicken,” he commented, suggesting that customers could enjoy both the beef and chicken versions.
