If you haven’t already deleted your #Snapchat because of its new update, this news might seal the deal for you. One of Snapchat’s new ads made light of Rihanna’s 2009 assault case with Chris Brown.
Snapchat thought it would be fun to have users play a “Would You Rather” ad game with the options being: “Slap Rihanna” or “Punch Chris Brown.”

But the app started to get digitally slapped when fans immediately started to attack the platform for its careless and inappropriate ad. Snapchat sent a statement to BBC in response to the public’s outrage: “The advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware. We are sorry that this happened.”

It may be too little too late for the social media site, as Snapchat has been facing a consistent downfall for the last year. This past February, Snapchat lost $1.3 billion in value and is said to be going through internal issues for a while now. Not to mention they’ve lost millions of users after their widely criticized update.
