Well, Snoop Dogg is back at it again with a new business venture. Following his successful run during the Paris Olympic Games, Uncle Snoop has his eyes set on an interesting idea, which he describes as the “Hood Olympics.”
Earlier this week, the California native spoke with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of the film “1992.” During the conversation, Snoop shared his hopes for an Olympic-style competition to give athletes in the “hood” an opportunity to showcase their skills and talents.
“One thing I wanna do is have the Hood Olympics,” Snoop expressed. “There’s a lot of homies from the hood that could run a 10.2, that could high jump, throw the javelin, backflip, swim good, jump over gates, and hurdle. You know what I’m saying?”
Snoop’s idea stems from his desire to provide a platform for those individuals who have the ability to compete in the international games but, for various reasons, may not get a chance to perform at the Olympic level. Whether the cause is due to a lack of financial resources or certain life circumstances, Snoop is motivated to give these individuals a space to shine, just like the Olympians who represent the country during the Big Games.
“I just wanna make it available for the athletes from the hood that didn’t make it, that probably have certain ramifications, but they still were athletic, and they still were good. So, I want to bring that component in, and hopefully, we’ll be able to make it make sense,” he added.
As previously mentioned, Uncle Snoop made headlines recently for his involvement with the Olympic Games, where he stole the show and became an instant fan favorite. According to multiple reports, the rapper and business mogul racked in approximately $9 million after hosting and attending various events during his 17-day stint in Paris.
Through his charm and infectious personality, Snoop was a key factor in Olympic broadcasts and gained attention with his larger-than-life unique flair on a global stage. Snoop didn’t reveal any in-depth plans for his “Hood Olympics.” Nonetheless, his time spent with the games only fueled his desire to keep the same energy for marginalized athletes.
