Solange Knowles received NYU’s 2022 Global Trailblazer Award for Creative and Artistic Excellence.
The “Cranes In The Sky” singer received the award on Tuesday, which also happened to be International Women’s Day. Solange was given the honor for not only her solo projects but also for establishing her creative initiative, Saint Heron. She created the project in 2013, which serves as a creative agency, music studio, and much more.
The visionary was honored during NYU’s Women Lead: A Global Leadership Accelerator and its Global Black Women Leadership Initiative virtual meeting. Led by Dr. Lisa Coleman, the conversion highlighted innovation and women’s leadership. Dr. Karen Jackson-Weaver of Global Faculty Engagement and Innovation Advancement praised the Grammy-award-winning songstress calling her “forging bold and innovative.”
Solange shared that she was “incredibly honored” to be recognized for her creative endeavors that “uplights works created by our own artists.”
“The vision for Saint Heron has been to build a space that engages radical conceptual imaginings across all mediums of creation and that uplifts works created by our own artists,” Solange shared.
