The trial date for Corey Walker, the only defendant charged as an adult in the 2020 fatal shooting of Pop Smoke, has been scheduled.
According to Rolling Stone reports, Walker’s trial, involving one count of murder and three related charges linked to the alleged home invasion at Pop Smoke’s Hollywood Hills residence, is set to commence on June 25 in Los Angeles, where he has entered a plea of not guilty.
Prosecutors are accusing Walker of “facilitating the crimes by not only surveilling the crime scene before the crimes were committed but also serving as the researcher, getaway driver, weapons provider, and planner of this home invasion robbery.”
They claim that Walker was reportedly in contact with the three juveniles who entered the home and assaulted the rapper before he was shot and killed.
According to Walker’s former lawyer, Christopher Darden, his ex-client “did not plan this crime” and served as the driver who “remained outside seated in the driver’s seat.”
