The CEO of San Francisco-based tech company Solid8 is apologizing after a viral video of him going on a racist rant about an Asian family surfaced.
Michael Lofthouse was dining at a Carmel, California restaurant when he began verbally attacking an Asian family celebrating a birthday. In the video, you can hear Lofthouse telling the family, “Trump’s gonna f**k you. You f*****g need to leave. You f*****g Asian piece of s**t.” At the time, the family was singing happy birthday and taking pictures, Forbes reports.
Eventually, an employee at the restaurant stepped in between the family and Lofthouse, telling the racist, “You do not talk to our guests like that. They are valued guests. Get out!” She then escorted him out of the establishment.
Lofthouse issued a statement apologizing for showing his racist lifestyle. “My behavior in the video is appalling. This was clearly a moment where I lost control and made incredibly hurtful and divisive comments. I would like to deeply apologize to the Chan family. I can only imagine the stress and pain they feel. I was taught to respect people of all races, and I will take the time to reflect on my actions and work to better understand the inequality that so many of those around me face every day.”
Forbes reports that Lofthouse has since removed himself from most social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and his Twitter account says he’s been suspended.
The woman who recorded the video is Jordan Chan, who in an Instagram post wrote, “It is no coincidence that this man has the audacity to showcase such blatant racism on the 4th of July. White supremacy has a notorious habit of masquerading as patriotism! The fact that Donald Trump is our president (i.e. THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE WORLD) gives racists a platform and amplifies voices of hate.”

Keep aspiring girlfriend. You’re only about ten months late to this theatrical production. You should really be breaking the news about this guy’s lawsuit against the Asians who cried wolf. They and the others who are blaming crime against them on white people are going to lose out on real empathy if they keep pulling stunts like this. I’m tired of us minorities being used to further other people’s agendas.
In light of information provided by Lofthouse’s own family concerning his past behavior, I’m not inclined to believe you. The guy is a racist and has a drinking/substance abuse problem which only exacerbates and fuels his bad behavior and hatred.
The only case that I can see him having is the argument that his privacy was violated when they gleaned his name from his credit card info. But that’s a legal issue and detracts from the main topic. No matter what, this guy’s toast… and deservedly so.
