Another round of stimulus checks is heading out in 2022. However, not everyone will qualify for them.
While many Americans have already received the total amount of stimulus money they’re entitled to, many citizens may qualify for an additional $1,400 check next year under the American Rescue Plan Act.
The American Rescue Plan Act allowed payments of $1,400 per adult and $1,400 per dependent. However, people who had a baby or added a new dependent after the payments went out did not receive all their owed money. Since the IRS determined how many dependents were entitled to the $1,400 payments based on past tax returns, new dependents were not a part of this calculation.
If you experienced these circumstances, you may claim the money by filing your 2022 tax return. The IRS will start accepting tax returns at the end of January.
Those eligible for the stimulus check must also be within the income limits. Single tax filers must make under $75,000, and married joint filers must earn under $150,000 combined.
