A mother’s son fatally shot a home intruder who disguised themselves as a healthcare worker.
At around 11:40 p.m. on Monday, a shooting took place at home in the 12500 block of Cooperstown in Harris County. The home belongs to a 65-year-old woman who was alone at the time when she received a knock at her door from a man wearing medical scrubs.
The man claimed to be a health care worker but grew seemingly wary of the man and refused to let him in. The woman then called her 40-year-old son, who happened to be a few blocks down the street, NBC 2 Houston reports.
When her son arrived, he saw the man trying to force his way into the home, and that’s when he shot the intruder. Investigators say the mother was also strapped with a blicky of her own; however, police say she didn’t use her weapon.
The news outlet reports that the case has been referred to a Harris County grand jury.
