Sony has announced new details about the next-generation virtual reality headset they are preparing to release and teased what the experience will look like in a demo for an upcoming PlayStation game at the CES technology event in Las Vegas.
The video game giant confirmed its new hardware would be called PlayStation VR2, which will replace its predecessor PS VR.
Jim Ryan, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, made the announcement and confirmed that PS VR2 would come with an OLED display supporting 4K resolution, as well as a new controller called PS VR2 Sense, which will link up to the PS5 via a single cord.
The system will also have eye-tracking technology that affects how the player interacts with a game and a built-in motor feature with vibrations to create headset feedback.
While the company didn’t provide a “first look” reveal of the new headset, they did give an early look at the in-game experience, showing off the trailer for a new game called “Horizon: Call of the Mountain.”
