A Los Angeles jury has found rapper Soulja Boy liable for multiple claims in a civil sexual assault case, awarding his accuser over $4 million in damages.
The jury determined that Soulja Boy, born DeAndre Way, is responsible for assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress in connection to a lawsuit filed by a woman who says she worked as his personal assistant. However, the jury did not find him liable for false imprisonment or creating a hostile work environment.
The total amount of damages awarded so far is just over $4 million. The trial now moves into the punitive damages phase, where the jury may decide whether additional financial penalties are warranted to punish Soulja Boy for his conduct.
We are three claims in (including assault and sexual battery) in the verdict form and the damages against Soulja Boy so far are $2.56 million.
That includes $1 million in damage for future harm from the sexual battery, and $500,000 for past.

The accuser, who filed the lawsuit in 2021, alleged she endured repeated sexual and physical abuse over the course of two years.
During the month-long trial, jurors were shown graphic text messages allegedly sent by the rapper, including threats such as “I hope u die slow” and “I should have killed your ass.” The plaintiff also described in harrowing detail incidents of physical and sexual abuse, claiming she was raped, starved, and threatened — including with a Draco firearm. She testified that she lost over 50 pounds during the ordeal, at one point surviving on instant noodles given to her by gardeners after scrounging for change.
Soulja Boy denied all allegations, calling them “disgusting,” and claimed their sexual relationship was consensual. His legal team attempted to portray the plaintiff as a vindictive ex seeking money, referencing a text message that allegedly included a request for $50,000 and a Dodge Charger.
Soulja Boy has denied the allegations and claimed in court that the woman was not his assistant but someone he had a consensual relationship with. He also denied any abuse.
