There are quite a few things one must know about their significant other before jumping the broom, apparently Ed Hartwell regrets not knowing pretty much anything about Keshia Knight-Pulliam before saying ‘I Do’.
Keshia and Ed got engaged last New Years Eve. A short time later they announced that they had gotten married. Just over a week ago, Keshia announced that she is expecting the couple’s first child, a little girl. Days later, it was announced that Ed Hartwell had filed for divorce and asked for a paternity test on the baby.
According to TMZ, Keshia is not against a DNA test, saying she has nothing to hide. However, PEOPLE says that the DNA of the baby isn’t the only thing that led to the couple’s split. Apparently after just 6 months of marriage, Ed realized Keshia wasn’t submissive enough for him.
“The couple is just not able to agree or see eye-to-eye on anything,” a source tells PEOPLE. “Hartwell is very old-fashioned in marital beliefs and how couples should make decisions together, and it seems Keshia is more interested in remaining a successful independent business woman than baking cookies and being a submissive wife.”
The source continues, “This is probably just a case of a child star used to going through life baking her cake, having her cake and eating her cake too.”
As far as the baby, a source close to Hartwell says that he doesn’t have evidence that Keshia had been unfaithful, but the timing of her pregnancy is definitely under question. “It’s just that he had told her he wanted to wait before having a baby and things got really bad between them and then she pops up pregnant,” says the source. “He even told her he didn’t want to release the bump picture so soon, but she did it anyway.”
When dating and getting to know someone, it doesn’t take long to find out certain traits about them — them being ‘too independent’ will usually surface pretty early on. I’ve also heard reports that Ed felt Keshia was spoiled, another trait that would have surfaced prior to marriage. I’m not sure how long these two dated before abruptly getting hitched, but if within six months he’s ready to call it quits, it’s possible they didn’t really know each other after all.
