A source told NBC News that Donald Trump has not spoken to Mike Pence since the DC riot on Wednesday.
As the pro-Trump demonstrators descending on the Capitol building where Congress was in session, Pence was evacuated to a secure location. While in lockdown, Trump never checked on Pence’s wellbeing.Â
Before the attack on the Capitol, Trump has been pressuring Pence to reject the Electoral College votes. As a result, Trump’s supporters called for violence against Pence. Pence recognized that he did not have the authority to overturn the Electoral College.
During a Wednesday morning speech, Trump called on his followers to march down to the Capitol.
Trump has not personally condemned the threats of violence against Pence, but the White House issued a statement on Saturday.
“We strongly condemn all calls to violence, including those against any member of this administration,” White House spokesman Judd Deere said.
