It’s Labor Day! The holiday that highlights and celebrates the working class who contribute to our economy. It’s usually the day friends and family come together, barbecue, party, and kickback. However, there are often times your family may be out of town, your friends may still be working, or you simply don’t have plans. Well, if you’re alone with nothing to do. Here are some activities for spending #LaborDay by yourself.

1. Take Yourself Out On Date
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You’re a hard-working person who deserves to splurge every now and again – especially if it’s on yourself. Labor Day is the perfect time to see a movie, get a massage, or take yourself to dinner. Surrounding yourself with your own energy can be calming and helps your mind unwind.

2. Go See a Parade
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The great thing about spending Labor Day without loved ones is you don’t necessarily have to be alone. A great place where people meet up to celebrate is at a parade. During Labor Day weekend, there are usually several parades and festivals. Some cities like Chicago, New York, Kansas City, and LA have the most iconic events, including food, activities, and dancing.

3. Clean Up
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While no one wants to spend Labor Day working, it is a great day to take care of errands and clean up your home. Cleaning helps clear your mind and prepares you for the upcoming week. However, if you plan on running errands, just make sure you take care of everything you need from the government the day before. Places like federal, state and county offices are closed. The post office and trash collection will also be shut down for the holiday.

4. Catch Up On Reading
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That book that you haven’t been able to finish is still sitting there on your shelf. With the extra time you now have, getting lost in an adventure, fantasy world, or romantic tale is always fun. Instead of scouring through social media, read a book about financial success, healthy living, or a fashion magazine.

5. Take a Trip Somewhere
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Having Labor Day’s three-day Weekend is perfect for taking a short vacation. Getting away from your work environment is soothing, helps you relax and allows you to explore a new place on your own schedule. A few areas that are perfect for solo trips, according to Thrillest, are Glacier National Park, Montana, Paris, France, Bangkok, Thailand, the coastline towns of Wales, Belgium, and London.
