Spider-Man lovers, set your calendar for April 8, 2022, as Sony has announced the day Miles Morales will make his return to theaters in the sequel to “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse”.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the original Spider-Verse won the Oscar for a best-animated feature and was upheld for its innovative and creative animations and inclusive storytelling.
The animated film follows Miles Morales, voiced by Shameik Moore, a teenage boy who takes up the position of Spider-Man after the death of Peter Parker. Morales eventually teams up with a group of Spider-powered heroes with different skill sets in order to stop the Kingpin. The new twist of the classic film includes voiceovers from Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali and Brian Tyree Henry. The movie was produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who will also be on the production side of the sequel.
As of now, the Spider-Verse sequel will be the only film set for that date. Reports say for Sony, Spider-Man maintains its place as the most important IP. The live-action Spider-Man: Far From Home, which was in collaboration with Marvel Studios, became Sony’s highest-grossing film this past summer with $1.13 billion globally.
