Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the St. Louis couple who made headlines for waving guns at Black Lives Matter protestors last summer, could have their licenses to practice law suspended.Â
Missouri’s chief disciplinary counsel, Alan D. Pratzel, filed the request with the state’s Supreme Court. He cited their guilty pleas to misdemeanor charges related to the incident.Â
In June, Mark McCloskey pleaded guilty to misdemeanor fourth-degree assault. He was ordered to pay a $750 fine. His wife, Patricia McCloskey, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment and had to pay a $2,000 fine.Â
In his argument, Pretzel cited prior cases where lawyers faced disciplinary action for crimes involving moral turpitude, according to KCUR. He asked for the court to suspend their licenses indefinitely.Â
Mark now has his eye on a U.S. Senate seat. He is running against four other candidates for the Republican nomination to fill the seat vacated by retiring Senator Roy Blunt.Â
