After 2 weeks of dragging, did Stacey Dash finally realize how silly her Black History and BET comments were? It’s possible, since the “Clueless” actress is clarifying them via her personal blog.
You may recall, while appearing on Fox News, Stacey Dash expressed her views on blacks, saying that if we want to escape segregation, we should ditch things like BET and Black History Month. She then stood by her comments by saying BET has brain washed black people into thinking that everyone else is out to get us and that we should stick together. Now she is singing a slightly different tune, explaining that the general public just didn’t “get” what she meant.
Read what she said below:
“It’s hard to cut through the hysterical reactions to my comments the other day about Black History Month. I feel like many of your reactions — saying that I’ve sold out to white people, that I’m “coonin’” etc — show you aren’t hearing me. I’m not saying we as black people deserve LESS respect. I’m saying we deserve MORE.
Black History should be apart of social studies and history curriculum EVERYDAY OF EVERY MONTH OF EVERY YEAR not just 28 days out of 365!!!!
In a hundred years, do you really want the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr, Frederick Douglass, and even Barack Obama to be discussed only in the month of February?!
Black history IS American history. We are not a category or a special interest group. We are Americans.”
I totally agree with Stacey’s point HERE, however that’s not what she said before. I think she’s just over being ostracized by black people and never good enough for white people. Come on home, Stace.
