I ran across this video on Facebook and couldn’t help but wonder what I would do in such situation. The scenario is as follows: a woman goes through the Starbucks drive-thru one day and places an order. Upon arriving at the window to pay, the 19 year old cashier takes her credit card and tells her that she needs to go to the back and get receipt paper for the register. Unbeknownst to the customer, the cashier is in the back of the store making a copy of her credit card. The customer finds out about this after noticing a $200 transaction at a grocery store was made at her expense. What does the customer do? Come back to Starbucks and put the 19 year old thief on blast by not only chastising her, but posting a video of it on social media.Â
As the customer threatens to inform her employers & law enforcement, all the young girl could do was use candid apologies she learned in customer service training, “I’m sorry for your inconvenience,” was one used several times. Reading through the comments on Facebook, many felt that this is just what the girl deserved, while others felt she was young and just made a dumb mistake. Was the customer wrong in recording the girl and posting it on social media for the world to see?Â
