Starbucks Customers Can Get Free Coffee By Bringing In Reusable Cup Twice

IStarbucks has been a big talker when comes to searching for ways to make a more environmentally-friendly alternative to disposable cups, notably through its NextGen Cup Challenge.

In March, the giant coffee supplier announced its plans to “create a cultural movement towards reusables” by 2025.

But the company didn’t go into details on exactly what a “cultural movement” involves or how the brand plans to get there. It did hint at a layered approach of convenience and incentives, Food and Wine reported.

In honor of Earth Day, this week Starbucks has announced one of its first major incentive upgrades.

Starting this Friday, customers who come with a clean, reusable cup for their Starbucks beverage will receive an extra 25 Stars to their Rewards account, which is a significant increase from the one or two Stars per dollar typically received on transactions and another bonus on top of the 10 cents off that customers already get for coming in with their own cup.

The company also says after just one trip with a reusable cup, a 25 Star bonus is enough to score free customization, such as an extra shot of espresso.

A free cup of hot coffee is available at 50 Stars, which means if a customer keeps bringing back their reusable cup, every third order of coffee would be free. As for handcrafted beverages, they are available at 150 Stars, making a free Frappuccino just six visits away.

However, it must be said, the new deal is only available when ordering inside stores and, one must have a Starbucks Rewards membership.

If you need a reusable cup, Starbucks has that. To further celebrate Earth Day and to encourage customers to use reusable cups — starting on Friday, April 22, Starbucks is offering 30 percent off all company drinkware.
