After Thursday’s semifinal loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, Zion Williamson‘s struggles throughout the game were evident. He finished with 13 points, two assists, three turnovers, and three rebounds, which was underwhelming and disappointing, especially because the Lakers had already been up 30 points in the third quarter.
Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley had a conversation after the game about how Zion has the opportunity to be great, but he needs to get serious about his health. Stephen A. Smith, on the other hand, was not as gracious with his wording.
During the latest episode of the Stephen A. Smith show, he repeatedly said that Zion Williamson looks fat. He mentioned that while LeBron James dropped 30 points in three quarters and looked in peak physical condition, Zion Williamson, who is more than 15 years younger, went to the free-throw line, and he saw a belly.
“When he took a deep breath, his belly bounced – that kind of belly. But it looked like you showed up to the game having just eaten a buffet. Not something from the buffet, the buffet. Like you ate the damn table. Get in my belly, that’s what I saw,” Smith said.
Currently, Zion weighs 284 lbs, making him one of the heaviest players in the league. He needs to cut weight if he wants to stay injury-free and become the best player on the New Orleans Pelicans team, which basketball fans know he can be.
