Stephen A. Smith says he would have been well protected in a fight against LeBron James.

During his appearance on “360 with Speedy,” the sports commentator cleared the air about his viral courtside moment with James. While fans joked about him likely losing a fight against the basketball star, Smith insisted he wasn’t alone or worried about being harmed.
“People could say I would have gotten my a** kicked, but did you see who I walked in with? He was 10 feet away,” said Smith. “That brother right there, that is 330-plus, that is my bodyguard…I really don’t have a whole lot to worry about.”
With his new $100 million extension, Smith says he’s not just a broadcaster, he’s a high-value asset that ESPN protects anytime he leaves the house.
“Anybody can get got, I’m fully aware of that…I’m always guarded because I’m an investment. I make a lot of money for the mouse,” he said. “He’s just my blood. That’s my brother right there. I like my odds.”
Though the altercation didn’t escalate, Smith made it clear he wouldn’t have stood down if James had taken it there before his bodyguard intervened.
“If somebody walks up to you and hits you, you’re not going to protect yourself? I would’ve [hit him],” he stated.
Even with a past boxing video haunting him online, Smith isn’t letting the criticism shake him.
“If that’s how you think I throw hands, you do what you do. All I know is this: I’m not gonna sit by and let somebody put their hands on me. I don’t give a s**t who you are.”
The courtside incident unfolded after Smith made comments about James’ son, Bronny, and his skills on the court.
