After Game 3 of the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks game, Stephen A. Smith was curious about why Russell Westbrook was not suspended after his outburst in Game 3. Smith said that when he saw that Russell Westbrook was not suspended, he had to call the NBA league Office for an explanation.
“Inexcusable behavior, that’s what I saw, and I don’t know why this isn’t being talked about enough, to be quite honest with you. I was of the mindset that Russell Westbrook deserved to be suspended for today’s game. That’s how appalling his game was.”
A bold claim to make on National television. While he tried to use the excuse that he is a journalist and he has called multiple times to ask, he put himself in a deeper hole. All The Smoke’s Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson shared their thoughts on their former colleagues’ recent comments.
“You don’t work for the league!” Jackson said before starting his second point about Smith’s questionable behavior. “Who, what makes you think you have the power to call and get someone suspended? So you opening more doors for the times you went on T.V. and you spoke bad about me and other players, you called and put your vote in to get people suspended? Is that what you’re saying?”
Jackson also had to get on his little brother Kendrick Perkins, who agreed with Smith’s take.
“My little brother, I love you to death Perk. But you agreed with that Perk and you a player. You know better than that, just imagine you was playing, and he called the league when you got into it with Serge Ibaka or something and he says I think Perk needs to be suspended. taking money out of your pockets and from your family.”
Matt Barnes also agreed that Smith was out of pocket for his comments about Westbrook’s suspension.
“Star player, someone like Russ who has taken so much bullsh%^* from the Media, to begin with, and he has gone from Superstar to the hole plugger,” Barnes said. “Stephen A is our brother and this is why this era is so dope in media, he was able to say it and let that shit ride. And nobody could say nothing to him, because nobody had platforms.”
A new era in Sports media is essential. Players provide their opinions and have the platforms to share them with the masses. Check out the clip of Stak and Matt below from their All The Smoke platform.
