Steve Francis has been having a tough time post-NBA. According to TMZ, Francis was arrested in Houston over the weekend for drunk driving.
The former NBA star was driving a 2017 Chevy Tahoe on Saturday at around 11:20 pm, when he was pulled over for going 88 in a 65. When he was stopped, cops noticed Francis smelled of alcohol. Sources tell TMZ that Francis refused a field sobriety test and became verbally abusive and uncooperative with the officer, causing more officers to be called to the scene.
Cops also found marijuana during the stop. At some point during the incident, law enforcement says that Francis made comments essentially warning the officers that he would get revenge for the arrest.
Steve Francis was arrested and charged with DWI, possession of marijuana and retaliation.
Steve Francis has a well-documented problem with alcohol. You may recall the video of Francis pouring champagne over his head in the middle of Dream Nightclub in Miami in 2014. Francis was also previously arrested in 2010 at Los Angeles International Airport for public drunkenness.
Francis played for the Rockets from 1999 to 2004 and again from 2007 to 2008.. Â I hope he gets the help he needs to get clean and sober.
